Why should I donate to The Maji Movement?

Clean water is a privilege most take for granted. The Maji Movement is a nonprofit organization that provides clean water to families in Tanzania by connecting them with students in America through education about the global water crisis and the donation of water filters so they can have clean water to drink just like them!

While our team is working hard behind the scenes, we need your support to make The Maji Movement come to life! This is your chance to make a concrete change in the lives of those living without the most basic necessities. Your generous donation, no matter how big or small, will help achieve something incredible.

The Maji Movement is more than an idea.

We know it works because we have done it before!

What’s my donation being used for?

Administrative Costs - Our team of volunteers needs your help in funding our start-up costs, allowing our team to run effectively across Tanzania and the United States.

Biosand Filter Training Workshop - Your donations will help send our local team to a two-week training workshop where they will learn how to build biosand filters and sustainably keep them in good condition.

Water Filter Production Facility - Your donations will allow us to build a local manufacturing site where our team of technicians in Tanzania will build all of the water filters, which will then be distributed to surrounding villages.

Community Outreach - The outreach programs are essential in educating our communities. They will learn about preventable waterdiseases and biosand filter care to ensure they last.

What does Maji mean?

Maji, pronounced 'mah-jee', means water in Swahili, which is one of the official languages of Tanzania.
